Clinic Impact

Healing, hope, and a thousand second chances.

Between January 1 and December 31, 2025, our clinic completed 1,784 surgeries, including an additional 600 procedures right here on-site since January 2026.

The clinic is on track to surpass 2,000 surgeries in 2026, preventing thousands of stray animals from a life of struggle and uncertainty.

Care when it’s needed most

Thanks to the dedication of our on-staff veterinarian Dr. Tracy Williams, families no longer have to wait weeks or months for help. We are now offering spay and neuter appointments every day she is in the clinic, ensuring animals receive care when it matters most.

We are also laying the groundwork for wellness visits, with the hope of offering scheduled appointments by autumn 2026, because true compassion means prevention, not just intervention.

Because we have a veterinarian on site, shelter animals can be spayed or neutered immediately after their stray hold ends, removing one of the biggest barriers to adoption. Faster access to surgery means animals can move into the next stage of care sooner, helping them heal, become adoption-ready, and find homes without unnecessary delay.

Christian Veterinary Mission

The months ahead are filled with promise. We are scheduling clinics throughout the year, including visits from two large veterinary teams, including a new partnership with a nonprofit that has spent 50 years delivering veterinary care to underserved communities around the world.

Their upcoming two-week clinic with us has the potential to become one of the largest spay and neuter efforts in our history, expanding our reach and deepening our impact across St. Thomas.

Grant funder

Summerlee Foundation

The clinic recently received a grant from the Summerlee Foundation to support targeted spay and neuter efforts in areas overwhelmed by cat overpopulation, areas that have been pleading for help.

This funding allowed us to purchase new humane traps, and thanks to a generous matching donation, we were able to double the number available.

Each trap represents fewer kittens born into hardship. Fewer animals suffering unseen. And real relief for neighborhoods doing their best to care.

Building a stronger future for spay & neuter care.

In February 2024, the HSSTT achieved a long-term dream of developing an in-house surgery suite capable of providing high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter surgeries.

With the assistance of visiting veterinarians, we were able to perform 1,359 surgeries. In August 2025, thanks to an Angel donor, we were able to hire our very own shelter veterinarian, increasing our surgeries completed to 1,784.

For 2026, we are working on our Spay It Forward program, which will give all community members access to low-cost spay/neuter and basic wellness care, and provide free spay/neuters to low-income and underserved pet owners in our community, directly preventing unwanted litters, surrender, and abandonment and addressing pet overpopulation at its source.

The goals of the program are to increase accessibility to basic veterinary care and keep animals in their homes, while also generating earned income that will offset costs of veterinary services for shelter pets.

Our clinic, under the direction of Dr. Tracy Williams, a USVI licensed veterinarian, together with a growing network of experienced veterinary surgeons and teams from all over the US, continues to provide needed services not only to our shelter animals but by appointment to pet owners and community cat caretakers.
