How it works
Four steps. One full cycle.
Every time a cat is spayed or neutered and returned to its outdoor home, another litter of kittens — and endless suffering — is avoided.
Trap
Humanely catch community cats using approved traps.
Neuter
Spay or neuter at the HSSTT clinic — ending reproduction.
Vaccinate
Core vaccines, plus an ear-tip so colonies are recognized.
Return
Back to the neighborhood they call home — no more litters.

You can help us manage the homeless cat population by participating in the Humane Society of St. Thomas’ Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program. TNVR is humane and effective.
It ends reproduction, stabilizes and reduces stray cat populations, improves cats’ lives, and reduces our annual intake of kittens at our shelter.

After the return
Volunteers needed for colony management.
Our work isn’t always complete after TNVR. Occasionally, there are situations where it’s unsafe or inhumane to return cats to their neighborhoods without supportive care.
Partner organization
Lucky Paws Foundation
Provides daily food and water for these colonies in need. Your donation to the LPF Cat Colony Management will assist more than 700 homeless cats currently under their care.
